VK5TTY-1 new Digi on Test

With the closure of the VK5TTY BBS run by the South Coast Amateur Radio Club in Adelaide a new set of oportunities presents itself. Currently we have placed a Ui-Digi VK5TTY-1 on site at O'Halloran Hill on test thanks to SCARC.

It is planned to turn the BBS site into a APRS Digi and Igate. The site is excellent giving coverage over greater Adelaide and good direct paths to 4 out of 5 of the Digis within 100km of the Igate. The next few weeks will help us see just what coverage is possible from this site being over 200m ASL.

There is allready talk regards future UHF ports and facilities on this site. We have also been testing a new config for the Igate with javAPRSSrvr being the current intention. With the recent bad weather experienced in Adelaide (both Heatwave and Storms)  we have been gating real time WX warnings and objects into the RF network including the recently added Central and Mid North Igate Zone.

In the new year we hope to see a new birth for an old callsign VK5TTY still running digital modes from the same site.
